The appeal of California’s Pacific Coast is undeniable. Even during times of normalcy, it is a sought-after destination. Current times are showing that even in a time of crisis it holds an allure for many people seeking solace, sunshine, surf, and socialization.
It has always been a place of personal retreat. Long walks on the sand at low tide seem to resolve many dilemmas that seemed otherwise insurmountable. 2020 has certainly been a year for reflection and anxiety, which has made the appeal of the beach even more magnetic.
When travelers were asked where they would go post pandemic travel restrictions, the top answer was a beach destination. This has been evident along the California coast from San Diego, Newport and Huntington Beaches, and Santa Barbara. In fact, it may be one of the bright spots in the hotel and hospitality industry driving occupancies at a time when most hotels and destinations are still suffering from the lack of travelers.
We hope that this trend continues as opportunities for group travel return. Based on inquiries for group business it seems likely that the beaches will continue to hold their allure as a coveted destination.
Whether your beach is on a lake, along a river, or on the coast, a long walk on any beach might just be an antidote for 2020.
