What’s Trending Now?
We have reached the halfway point of 2020, a year that will not be long forgotten, but one which many of us might like to forget. At the onset of this year’s pandemic toilet paper and bottled water were flying from store shelves. Staples like rice, flour and beans became hard to find. Then as meat packing plants became impacted meat became scarce. It makes sense that people might hoard household necessities in the midst of a pandemic, but one of the most unanticipated responses to COVID 19 has been a surge in recreational vehicles sales; that’s right…trailers, 5th wheels and motorhomes are selling like crazy!
What does this trend toward recreational vehicles during a pandemic tell us about ourselves? That many of us are yearning to get safely outside! The good news is that getting outdoors has consistently proven to be good for us long before 2020. Interest in outdoor activities has been increasing significantly as outdoor retailers can confirm from the sales of hiking, water sport and camping gear has risen year over year.
In fact, outdoor exercise has been so strongly connected with health and well being that some doctors are even writing prescriptions for their patients. In Santa Barbara, California the Healthy People, Healthy Trails Program is just one example.
The good news is that you don’t have to wait for a prescription to get outside! Not only is it trending…it’s really good for you!
